Running a handmade business is full of small moments that quietly feel like big milestones. Recently, I experienced one of those moments. For the first time since starting Crochet By Shivani, someone discovered my work through an online search, specifically through ChatGPT and reached out to place an order!

One of the most memorable requests I received started with something unexpected. A customer sent me a GIF over WhatsApp. In that animation, there was a cute panda holding a pig-shaped sling bag. It looked adorable, playful and unique and the customer simply asked: "Can you make this pig sling bag?"

This Rakshabandhan, I decided to do something special , not just for my shop, but for my own brother. I wanted a rakhi that felt more than just decorative… something he could feel. So I picked up my yarn, sat with a whole lot of emotions and a hot cup of chai, and crocheted rakhis for him by hand.

As a mom and a crochet artist, some of the most meaningful things I've ever made weren't for sale, they were for the people I love... This project wasn’t just about crochet. It became a way for us to stay connected across distance. I involved her in every step of the process. I sent her photos of yarn samples, video-called her while shaping petals, and asked her opinion on the tiniest details.

One day, my daughter shared a wish with me. She wanted a crochet t-shirt, but not something ordinary. She imagined a white t-shirt transformed with colourful, fancy crochet sleeves, something playful, expressive, and completely unique. That one small idea sparked a creative journey that turned into one of my most cherished handmade crochet projects.

When people imagine the life of a crochet artist, they often picture long, peaceful hours spent surrounded by colourful yarn, quiet creativity, and gentle inspiration. While there is truth in that image, my real days are woven with many more threads, devotion, responsibility, and passion, all finding their place in a beautifully busy rhythm.

Some projects are just different. They stretch you, test your patience, and demand the very best of your skills. Creating this crochet Batman, yes, the tiny superhero made entirely with yarn and a hook, was one of those unforgettable projects for me.
